Welcome to Flume News

September it seems is Flume on holiday month. As I write this Bob is currently lounging around somewhere in the Med. and next week Nick heads off for Cornwall for a week. So while they get to chill I get the chance to update this Website . . .

Undoubtedly, the highlight of last month was the 'Your Song' covers night gig, a hot, sweaty Saturday night at the Point. We got the second to last spot of the evening and played Ace of Spades (Motorhead), Tush (ZZ Top), Remedy (Black Crowes), and You really got me (Kinks/Halen). We played the gig as a 4-piece with our friend Ben helping out on lead guitar. Thanks Ben, you're a star. The place was heaving and we got a great reception. Have a look at the Gig History page for a more extensive review.

Taking of reviews we've had some nice press recently, in particular from the BURBS online web magazine What's that Spell? where we have received two glowing reviews, one for the Flume . . . the hell are you? CD and the other a live review from our recent gig at the Waterside Centre, Newbury. Check them out! Also there is a review of the CD in the current issue of the excellent Black Velvet fanzine and a small mention in Rock Sound magazine. The current Nightshift magazine includes a small write-up of the Your Song night. There are also some photos of the Your Song night at the website of Gerard Wood a local photographer check out his site here http://cobweb.quantisci.co.uk/photo/

Just released from the BURBS organisation is BURBS Too! the second compilation CD that they have released featuring unsigned bands. Flume are included on this new CD. Track three is On My Own. You can now buy this CD online direct at http://www.burbs.co.uk/

We have recently been doing some remixes of the track Believe and we believe (excuse the pun!) that we now have a far superior final mix from the version currently available for download as a free MP3 file on our Music Samples page. This new mix is scheduled for Mastering next week and should hopefully soon appear on this website. We have also been thinking about doing some more recording and our current plan is spend a few days in studio in the early New Year to record 4 new tracks to release as an EP.

One unfortunate set back last month was the cancellation of our gig on 20th August at the Pit in Witney. This was the second gig that we have had cancelled on us recently and was due to the headline band pulling out of the gig at the last minute. Again we apologise to anyone who did not find out about the cancellation and turned up on the night.

Until next month,

Cheers,

Ollie.
